Fedora Core 1 (Yarrow) was released on November 6, 2003, Fedora Core 2 (Tettnang) on May 18, 2004, Fedora Core 3 (Heidelberg) on November 8, 2004, and Fedora Core 4 (Stentz) was released on June 13, 2005.
Core 1 was the first release of the Fedora operating system, which included Linux kernel V 2.4.19, GNOME 2.4, and KDE 3.1.
Core 2 was the second release, and it comes with Security-Enhanced Linux, Linux kernel 2.6, GNOME 2.6, and KDE 3.2.
Core 3 was the third release, and it comes with Firefox Web Browser, Security-Enhanced Linux, GNOME 2.8, and KDE 3.3.
Core 4 was the fourth release of Fedora, and it comes with a new theme, Firefox Web Browser, OpenOffice.org 2.0, Xen, Linux kernel 2.6.11, Security-Enhanced Linux, GNOME 2.10, KDE 3.4, and support for the PowerPC architecture.
Fedora is a free and open source Linux operating system (or distribution) that has been developed by contributions from community members and Red Hat. Fedora was designed for personal computers and servers, and is currently available in three different editions, which are for Workstation (for personal computer), Server (for servers), and Atomic (for cloud computing). GNOME is currently the default desktop environment for the operating system, and the GNOME Shell is the default user interface. There are more other desktop environments supported in Fedora, such as Cinnamon, Xfce, and MATE. Like other Linux distributions, Fedora is bundled with many general software applications such as Firefox Browser, LibreOffice, Media Player etc.
